ACPO has teamed up with the NPIA and an actress from BBC soap ‘Eastenders’ to produce a new training video designed to raise awareness of the early signs of group-associated child sexual abuse. The video is hosted on CEOP’s YouTube channel.
The film for front-line officers uses clips of the character ‘Whitney’s’ gradual grooming by a man she meets during a difficult period in her life who offers her security and gains her trust before going on to exploit her vulnerability.
The video is approximately 19 minutes long and officers are asked to take some time to view it during the working day.
Where this is not possible, supervisors are requested to incorporate the film into the earliest team training session and discuss the ‘next steps’ after spotting a child who may be vulnerable to sexual exploitation.
