THE WMP netball team have just returned from taking part in the national PSUK Netball tournament held in Durham.

Rear: (Lto R) Becky Taylor, Sophie Bennett, Lorayne Brown, Rachel Byatt, Lisa Farrington, Odette Kellerman, Leanne Murdoch, Vicky Baker
Front: (Lto R) Ronnie Lee, Simone Small, Claire Cartwright, Shani Ashford, Kelly Mack, Debra Dawes, Clare Gilliland.
The tournament was held over two days, and 30 teams battled to be crowned PSUK 2012 champions.
The force entered two teams into the competition – the Reds and the Blacks – and it is fair to say that both sides played some fantastic netball throughout the tournament.
The Reds only lost one game over the two days, qualifying for the gold section whilst the blacks went through to the silver section.
Both sides performed admirably in their respective groups with the Reds only missing out on reaching the final following a close defeat by Merseyside police. The Blacks also finished off strongly after winning three matches out of five.
This meant that in the overall rankings the West Mids Reds finished in third position whilst the blacks came in at 13th.
As an indicator of the teams’ strong performances, four members of the West Mids players were selected to attend a trial for the GB Police netball team which will enter into the World Fire and Police Games (WFAPG) next year in Belfast.
Player of the tournament for the WMP Reds was jointly awarded to Kelly Mack (BWC LPU) and Simone Small (BE LPU), whilst Rachel Byatt (WV LPU) picked it up for the Blacks.
