A TEAM of four officers from Coventry LPU have raised over £650 for charity after completing a 105-mile bike ride.
PC Paul Evans, PC Darren Costello, Sergeant Phil Rafferty and PC Justin Griffiths along with their friend Chris Masson completed the coast to coast cycle in just three days to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
The team completed the cycle ride from Ilfracombe to Plymouth, with the majority of the cycling done off road through the hills of Dartmoor.
PC Darren Costello, an officer from the local CAPT team, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have raised over £650 for such a worthy charity as Cancer Research UK.
“We chose Cancer Research UK because we all know someone who has been affected by cancer and wanted to raise awareness of all the good work that Cancer Research does.
“Fundraising is absolutely vital to the charity, and we are aware of all the good work that the charity does.
“As CAPT officers we are dedicated to reducing crime and disorder in our local communities. By raising this money we are happy to have helped such an important cause that is close to people’s hearts.
“Thank you to everyone who donated and well done to everyone who took part. Cancer Research UK contacted me and the team before the cycle to wish us luck and gave thanks for raising money”.
