WITH the warmer weather (hopefully) approaching, the force’s Coarse Angling Section are actively seeking new members.

The section fishes at some of the most established commercial and match venues around the Midlands, including Maver Larford Lakes, Tunnel Barn Farm, Moorlands Farm and many other quality fisheries.

In addition, throughout the year WMPCAS are regularly invited to fish against other forces and partner agencies such as the fire service, army and navy.

The section is also an active participant of the prestigious PSUK national angling competition attended by most British Police forces.

DC Craig Wooldridge is a long term member of the section, he said: “We actively welcome anglers of all abilities who would like to take part in a spot of match fishing.

“Of course there is no pressure to fish in inter-force matches and you can just choose to fish in our own club matches which are held around eight times a year.

“During the year we also hold a two or three day ‘Fishing Festival’ where members will stay at a venue within a comfortable drive of the West Midlands,  giving attendees the chance for a bit of socialising and of course a couple of fishing matches.”

If you are interested in joining or would like to find out more about the section please contact either PC 6367 Andrew Cleaver or DC 9854 Craig Wooldridge via internal phone or email.

There is also a Maver (tackle dealers) open day being held at Tally Ho! from noon till 5pm on Saturday 16 March 2013. This will be a fantastic opportunity to meet other members and get all your questions answered.

Craig added: “Fishing within our shores is one of the most enjoyable social and recreational events that you can partake in. With this in mind I would encourage people to come and have a go and sign up for a ‘whale’ (sorry) of a time.”

To join the section you do need to be a member of the Sports and Social Club.
